General Motors has spent 100 years shaping mobility in Africa and the Middle East, growing alongside the region’s cities, industries and communities. Since opening its first operations in Alexandria in 1926, GM has helped build critical automotive infrastructure while bringing world-class Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac vehicles to drivers across the region. This centennial marks a legacy of industrial scale, patented innovations and deep local partnerships that contribute to jobs, skills and economic growth.  

Today, that legacy lives on in one of the region’s most versatile line-ups – from supercars and luxury sedans to dependable pickups and SUVs powered by ICE, hybrid and EV technologies. With a vehicle for almost every customer and every purpose, supported by strong dealer and partner networks, ACDelco’s localization efforts  and connected services like OnStar, GM continues to earn the trust and loyalty of millions of drivers.

As GM marks its centennial in the region, it is also looking ahead to the next century of innovation. Guided by its vision of Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions and Zero Congestion, the company is investing in advanced driver-assistance features such as Super Cruise, software-led platforms and electric and software-defined vehicles tailored to regional needs. The next 100 years will see GM deepen its roots in Africa and the Middle East – supporting local talent, championing sustainable mobility and helping shape a future where movement is safer, cleaner and more connected.
